Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in Rituparno Ghosh’s movie ‘The Last Lear’ is being compared to his acting in ‘Black’.Just a few days back, The Last Lear had its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Amitabh Bachchan , Preity Zinta and Rituparno Ghosh were there for the film’s screening. The trio was overwhelmed by the response to the film. The Roy Thompson Hall reverberated with a huge applause after the screening.People who saw ‘The Last Lear’ not just liked the film but were pretty impressed by Big B’s subtly nuanced performance in it. He plays an ageing Shakespearean actor in the film. Ghosh, who is super-excited by the response, says this (Big B’s) is the best performance not just by any Indian actor, but by any actor that he has ever seen. This is quite a big statement coming from a director who has worked with some of the best acting talents in the country. Not just Ghosh, even Big B’s co-star Preity Zinta can’t stop raving about the superstar. She says Mr. Bachchan’s performance in ‘The Last Lear’ is better than in Black .Toronto-based filmmaker Deepa Mehta was also at the festival and saw the film. She liked it very much.As for the Big B himself, he says all the praise and accolades are beginning to make him feel embarrassed. Like his talent, his modesty is also matchless. The superstar is now back in India to receive the National Award (for the best actor) for his role in ‘Black’.Meanwhile, ‘The Last Lear’ will now go to the Rome and London Film Festivals also.
