I have not posed nude: Kangana

Kangana Ranaut suddenly caught a lot of attention when her picture appeared on the cover of a film magazine in a body suit with an equally shocking headline- ‘Naked Truth Exposed’. Though the image hasn’t kicked any controversy, it has certainly raised many eyebrows.
She simply doesn’t care about what people have to say about her picture.
“What’s the big deal about the picture? Are any of my vital organs seen? I haven’t posed nude at all. These days one doesn’t need to. Body suits are available readily in the market,” Kangana is quoted as saying.
She fails to understand why so many eyebrows are being raised.
“Why would I be upset,” she asks and adds, “It was for an annual issue and we just tried doing something different. In my profession, one has to do different kinds of photo shoots. I fail to understand why such a big deal is made about a normal picture.” On personal front, Kangana states she has very few friends in the industry and she prefers spending her time reading or doing meditation.
The twenty-year-old actress also says that she is single and ready to mingle.

Kareena to perform for Indian Cricket League

SRK did it with Chak De India; John followed that up with Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. And now it seems that Kareena is all set to follow suit by doing her bit for sports, the difference being that SRK and John have done it on reel life, while Kareena will do it in real life!
She is scheduled to perform for tracks like ‘It’s Rocking’ from Kya Love Story Hai and ‘Mauja Mauja’ from her hit film, Jab We Met, at the opening ceremony of Kapil Dev’s Indian Cricket League (ICL) in Chandigarh. The event is being coordinated by Bunty Walia’s GS Entertainment and Zee Sports. Kareena said that she is a cricket enthusiast and has watched a lot of Kapil Dev’s performances. Hence, being a part of the ceremony would indeed be an honor for her. She is also planning to meet up with Kapil Dev on November 30 before the event. The Australian cricketer Dean Jones and England’s Tony Greig would also be joining them.

London Mayor is Big B’s guest at Aladin sets

Sujoy Ghosh, producer and director of Aladin And The Mystery Of The Lamp, had a special guest last week during the film’s shoot. Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, was invited by Amitabh Bachchan on the sets after he expressed his desire of seeing a film’s shoot in India. Since the second schedule of the film is currently on at Film City, Big B, who plays ‘Genius - The Genie in the film’, gladly invited him over to the sets.
Informs Sujoy, “The Mayor not just visited the sets but also gave a clap for one of the shots. He is aware about the legend of Aladin and found it exciting to witness a film being made on such a grand scale in India.”
Talking about how the Mayor landed up on the sets, Sujoy says, “He came mainly as Mr. Bachchan’s guest. After witnessing the shoot, he expressed that it was a nice experience for him.”
There have been stupid news bytes floating around how Sri Lankan model Jacqueline Fernandez (call her Jackie, insists Sujoy!) has been paired opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the film. “Tell Riteish this; he would be very upset I am sure”, says Sujoy with a mischievous smile, “Jackie is the leading lady and she plays the role of Jasmine. But hello, she is opposite Riteish. Haven’t we all read ‘Alladin’?”
By the way how is the film shaping up? “We have wrapped up one mini schedule in Rajasthan. Ritiesh was there for an action sequence and I chose Rajasthan as the shooting location since there was this particular texture which was required for this sequence”, informs Sujoy.
“Now we are a part of this marathon schedule in good old Mumbai. Though it won’t be one start to finish schedule for Aladin…, the film’s shooting would practically go on till the month of May.

Who loves Bebo as item girl?

Kareena can’t stop gushing over her favourite actor. “Very frankly I did the Yeh mera dil song in Don because of Shah Rukh. My ultimate wish is to do a full-on love story with him.
But when Farhan Akhtar offered me the song I wondered if doing a guest appearance was right for me. But the temptation for doing a song with Shah Rukh got the better of me.”
And now Kareena is glad she did the song. “It’s got me tremendous notice. My niece Samaira has become my biggest fan. She dances to the song. And the minute she sees me she starts singing Yeh mera dil pyar ka deewana.”
Though Kareena is listening to scripts everyday she has green-lighted only two new projects.
“I’ve decided I can’t do run of the mill films any more. I’ve done enough films without conviction. And it shows in my performances. Unlike my sister Karisma who could look convincing in any role I’ve to be convinced to look.
Talk of Omkara brightens Kareena. “It’s one film I’m truly proud of. I’m looking forward to working with Vishal Bhardawaj again. He’s one of those rare directors who knew how to tap into my potential.
I need directors like Vishal and Imtiaz Ali of Jab We Met to come forward and give me a chance. That’s why I’ve taken a long break to get my act together. I don’t want to look back on my career with any regrets.”

I like Salman very much:Big B

When his admirers in the Indian film industry refer to him as ‘God’, they would have never imagined he would one day actually star as God in a film.
But that’s exactly what the Big B plays in writer-turned-directpr Rumi Jaffrey’s God, Tussi Great Ho. Says a source, “Big B plays a spunky funny doughty and dude-like God, not your average God-in-costume but a very funky character, who has this on-going dialogue on life with Salman.
In fact all of Bachchan Saab’s scenes are with Salman, an actor he really enjoys working with after Baghban and Baabul. In both they shared screen space as father and son. In God… they’ve a far funnier and much more easy- going rapport.”
The Big B is expected to complete his God-ly role by the end of the year. Brushing off all illusions of grandeur the Big B says, “It’s just a role, albeit with a fantasy element that’s fun to do. And working with Salman is always enjoyable.”
Incidentally the Big B was expected to play Dashrath in Sanjay Khan’s large-screen interpretation of the Ramayan two years ago. He plays a ghost in Ravi Chopra’s new production Bhootnath. Other Actors Who Have Played God. Jeetendra & Jaya Prada Played Rama and Sita in Luv Kush Sanjay Dutt played Yamaraj in Life Ho To Aisi Ajay Devgan to play Rama & Sita in Raj Santoshi’s Ramayan.

‘Goal’ hailed for international integration

In recently held Dubai premier, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal didn’t enjoy a standing ovation. But instead of being disappointed, director Vivek Agnihotri is a happy man.
“That’s because the audience were left stationed on their seats even as end credits started rolling. There was a pin drop silence as the movie came to an end after the thrilling 20 minutes finale”, explains Vivek, “It was after around a minute that they started gathering themselves and congratulatory comments started flowing.”
“It will be pompous on my part to rave about the reactions people had there but one compliment which would remain closest to my heart forever is the one which came from a 80 year old Pakistani man”, says an emotional Vivek, “He said that the film had succeeded in achieving what politicians across borders haven’t been able to do when it comes to international integration.”
Those who have seen the film by now would know that while Arshad Warsi is shown as a man with Pakistani roots, John Abraham’s character is shown as an Indian by origin while there is a Bangladeshi migrant as well. All of these along with men from these three nationalities are shown to be a part of Southall United all-Asian football club.
“The way people from different nationalities come together and play for their honor has touched the chord. I am happy that the message of unity and integrity has gone across to the audience. A few critics may have missed the point but it is heartening to see that the paying public has hailed the effort”, continues Vivek.
The film has taken a good start all over. Did Vivek really anticipate this?
“I won’t bluff that we were presenting a blockbuster like Lagaan or an Om Shanti Om to the audience. Still the film has not just opened beyond our expectations but even carrying very good word of mouth. As I said earlier, we were underplaying the film and wanted audience to decide by themselves. The conviction shown by Ronnie (Screwala) and the entire team behind Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal has worked”, concludes Vivek.

Hrithik to debut with Penelope

Apna Bollywood is surely marching ahead for good times. According to the international box office, both OSO and Saawariya outscored the Robert Redford-Tom Cruise political thriller, Lions for Lambs, which released last week along with the two Bollywood biggies.
According to the international box office, OSO has garnered $18 million worldwide, while Saawariya and Lion for Lambs have made $13 million and $10 million respectively.
Not only that our Desi heros are all set to adorn the billboards with their Hollywood projects. The latest rumour says that Hrithik Roshan is making his Hollywood debut with none other than Penélope Cruz. The film will be extensively shot in Hollywood.
Penélope’s agent, who had asked for Hrithik’s profile, was bowled over by his international look and recommended him to the Spanish actress.
Our Bollywood hotties are not far behind either. After Ash, now Rani Mukherjee has been offered a role in Hollywood. But the queen bee is extremely tight-lipped about the whole issue. Rani says that she is not willing to go west just for the sake of acting in a Hollywood movie. She wants to do interesting roles and the country she works hardly matters.

Shah Rukh Khan is the sexiest Asian

Shah Rukh Khan is the hottest rather sexiest Asian man in the world according to the list published by a British weekly newspaper, ‘Eastern Eye’. Last year, Abhishek Bachchan had topped the list.
The poll was based on a public voting system where people decide as to who they think is the sexiest Asian Man from a list of 100 names published in the Eastern Eye newspaper and website.
Surely, SRK’s looks in OSO worked for him, adding to the popularity he already has. In the true sense, it is the way Shah Rukh carries himself that makes him sexy. In addition to that, he is a fantabulous actor, a good dancer, a great showman; now if all this does not make a person sexy then what would?
Among the list of sexy Asian men were the likes of Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, Upen Patel, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ali Zafar, Jay Sean, and Saif Ali Khan. It has been three years since Easter Eye started this trend and the first-ever winner was John Abraham.

Bips herself designed her look in Goal

The Bong bombshell is at it again. She is all set to dazzle and bedazzle her fans this time with her cool and hot look in her latest release Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. It seems that when she first heard the script of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal she wanted a new look in the film.
Speaking about her ‘looks’, Bipasha Basu said, “Well I play a physiotherapist and I can’t possibly be attending to boys injuries wearing a bikini. So I wanted a very realistic look. So, after a lot of discussion, we thought that while Romana (my character) is on fields as a physiotherapist, she would wear track pants and a T-Shirt, with glasses and tie her hair in a pony tail like a girl next door. And when she is not on field, then she is a typical Muslim girl from Southhall and will be wearing Pakistani salwar kameez.
Bips also added that she tries to look different in all her films. While the clothes are by Rocky S, she herself has designed the look in Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. And Vivek’s contribution was the glasses that she wears!

Rakhi Sawant says No to Marriage

This Diwali Rakhi Sawant was with her boyfriend Abhishek’s parents.
“They had come to visit. Yes, our parents do want us to get married. But we don’t want to marry yet. Right now we want to build our careers. Shaadi kar ke kya kar lenge? Everyone gets married. Big deal!
And after marriage, love tends to die, specially in showbiz. With both of us working there’s a danger that both me and Abhi will get less work after marriage.
We don’t have the good fortune of Ajay Devgan and Kajol or Shah Rukh and Gauri. Let us both make something out of our lives. Then we’ll shout out our marriage plans from rooftops. Abhi to main khadi bhi nahin hui hoon theek se.”
This Diwali Rakhi had Shah Rukh for company. “I was busy whooping it up with Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of Nach Naliye. I was too ill that day to even get up from bed. But the minute Shah Rukh walked in I was up on my feet. This was my most memorable Diwali.”
She seems to have forgiven her detractors on Nach Baliye. “Shall I tell you the truth? Now I don’t care whether Abhishek and I win or lose. We got a platform and we got our fame.
Recently we met Hemaji and she said she watches us on Nach Baliye. She wanted to know if I was a trained dancer. There’s a fire within me to dance. I don’t have a godfather.
Nach Baliye gave me an opportunity to be noticed. People wait for my performances. Abhishek and I work really hard on every performance.”
Rakhi has put all her other activities on the back-burner. “At the moment we don’t have time to do anything except Nach Baliye. I did do an item song in Rakesh Roshan’s Krazzy 4. But I won’t lie to you. I’m not flooded with offers.”
She says she’s no longer bothered with the backbiting on Nach Baliye. “May God keep everyone happy with their behaviour. I’ve stopped paying attention to them.
I don’t want my mood to be spoilt before every performance. Now I just focus on my performance. God is on my side. But I don’t want to pressurize God for anything. He has already given me everything.”
At the Saawariya premiere Rakhi met the mighty Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. “He said to me, ‘Bahut ladti ho teevee pe. Kyun itna ladti ho?’ Abhishek and I touched his feet.
Our life was made. I also met Boney Kapoor and Sridevi. I nearly fainted when she congratulated me. Her daughters love me. They are such beautiful kids. They had come to me for a byte for their school project which I gave happily.
I’m a big fan of Sridevi, Madhuri and Rani. I also met Karan Johar and Manish Malhotra at the Saawariya premiere. By coincidence I was wearing a Manish Malhotra saree.”
Rakhi has one burning ambition to fulfil. “I want to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In his hands even the dirtiest artiste energes as a sparkling diamond. I’ve watched him shoot and I’ve seen how he works on his artistes.
Main bolun ….a hundred films by other directors ek taraf….Sanjay Leela Bhansali ki film ek taraf. I’m willing to do the smallest of parts in his cinema. Saawariya transports me into a different world.”

Sallu is ok with Katrina-Shahid

Reports that Salman insisted on getting Shahid Kapoor out of Raj Kumar Santoshi’s propsed Katrina-Shahid love story had the prolific filmmaker baffled.
“I really don’t know when and where these stories come from. I’ve seen Saawariya and I loved Ranbir’s performance.
Why just Ranbir, I also loved Sonam Kapoor’s performance. I’d certainly like to work with both of them in the future.
But as of now, there’s nothing on the anvil. I’m currently in the pre-production of my Ashoka film with Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu. But the Katrina-Shahid film is not shelved. We’re on the look-out for another script.”
Speaking on Salman Santoshi says fondly, “I’ve been fond of Salman from the time we worked together in Andaz Apna Apna. I’d love to work with him again any time. He’s a very co-operative, kind and generous actor.
He has never interfered in my casting and he never will tell me whom to work with or not work with. Yes, I’m open to suggestions on casting.”

Konkona Sen Sharma enters Cotton World

She is one person with whom sincerity, dedication and originality can be said with one breath. She is far away from being a ‘Page 3’ celeb. She is none other than Konkona Sen Sharma, who has now become an activist for the leading cotton brand Cotton World. She is all set to initiate people to replace plastic bags with cotton ones.
More over the commercials, this lady personally believes and feels strongly for the cause, something very unlikely of many brand ambassadors who are mushrooming from everywhere. Konkona said that she doesn’t like synthetic and is basically a cotton and khadi kind of person in real life. And the reason that she associates with this is also valid as she said that the cause is not just eco-friendly; it is also child friendly since, the contributions will be going directly to CRY.

Ayesha Takia is a Big girl now

“It seems I was the only non-smoker in No Smoking. Everyone else was busy smoking all the time, ” laughs Ayesha Takia. After her glorious performance in Dor, she was seen in Anurag Kashyap’s anti-smoking film.
“Anurag Kashyap has been a good friend for five years. We always wanted to work together. Initially No Smoking didn’t have much for me to do. It was a small role of John’s wife.
But finally Anurag Kashyap gave me two roles in No Smoking, of John’s wife and his secretary. Another actress was to play the secretary. He turned two characters into a double role for me.
Not just that, he added scenes as the film progressed. I guess someone somewhere likes me.”
She laughs pleasurably, obviously enjoying her new status as a serious actress. “I think Anurag is a genius. He has the guts to do something different.”
For someone who’s just 21 Ayesha seems to be playing a lot of wifely roles in films as far-ranging as Shaadi No 1 and Dor.
Ayesha is happy to be building her own niche. “At least Dor has taken me away from this young bubbly image. I hope more people feel that I’m capable of doing something more.
Thank God Nagesh Kukunoor trusted me with Dor….Not that I don’t enjoy running around trees. But what I wouldn’t give to do more like roles like Dor and No Smoking. People do seem to be offering me a variety of roles. “

Now Jaya & Abhishek together

He’s been a son to his illustrious father in more films than one. Now it’s the mom’s turn.
Jaya Bachchan has so far not had an opportunity to play her real-life son Abhishek’s mom in any film barring the Bengali Desh where Abhishek put in a very special appearance as Jaya’s NRI son.
Now the two will be seen as a full-fledged mother-son pair in family-friend Goldie Behl’s Drona.
Goldie isn’t only one of Abhishek’s closest childhood buddies, his father producer-director Ramesh Behl was one of Jaya’s closest friends. She acted in one of his biggest hits including Jawani Diwani and its not so successful follow-up Dil Diwana.
And when in 1982, Ramesh Behl produced Yeh Vada Raha, Jaya dubbed for both its leading ladies Poonam Dhillon and Tina Munim (they were supposed to be the same character with different faces after plastic surgery).
Goldie hasn’t made a film since his debut Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai in 2001 with Abhishek Bachchan.
Says Priyanka, “Drona is a big film in terms of canvas and budget. But it has only three main characters played by Jayaji, Abhishek and me.”
Incidentally Jaya and Abhishek were also seen together in Pradeep Sarkar’s film Laga Chunari Mein Daag, though not as mother and son.

I’m very Jealous of Saawariya

The feeling that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya has not been appreciated within the film industry is more than amply dispelled by a host of topnotch filmmakers and actors who have fallen in love with the film.
Rakeysh Mehra can’t stop raving about Saawariya. “We’ve a very special film in Saawariya. Some films have shelf life. Others have boxoffice life. The really lucky ones have both. Saawariya is a film that will be looked back on as a turning point in our cinema.
I was on location in Jaipur during the premiere of Saawariya but I caught it later. It is one of its kind. I was simply blown away by the film. My first reaction was of jealousy. Followed by admiration and respect for its maker.”
He dismisses the critical backlash as predictable. “Saawariya opens up a new genre. For long we’ve made films on suspended reality. Now new genres are opening up.
Saawariya goes with full-on lip-sync songs from characters who look like they’d like to sing to each other. Suddenly we no longer have a cop in uniform bursting into a song to his girlfriend. I think the musical has matured with Saawariya. My Rang De Basanti is again part of the transition.
Like Saawariya it re-defines the musical genre. Some of us who take giant steps ahead in cinema are bound to get hurt, ” he says about the savage criticism of the film.
However having fallen in love with Bhansali’s tapestry of artistry, Mehra thinks the film’s length may perhaps have gone against it.
“I think it’s half an hour too long for the story that it has to tell. I’d consider that a structural flaw. Otherwise I’m completely enamoured of the film.”

I’ll marry Harman? It’s crazy:Priyanka

Apparently Priyanka is being offered two films every day.
“Who told you that?” she squeals delightedly in protest. “It’s true that I’m being very careful post-Krissh and Don. I want to do films that would challenge me as an actress. And I’m taking a long break after that.
I’m not getting the kind of film that grabs my attention immediately. I want to do only caliber roles. I don’t want to rush into anything. It could be anything. “
In the interim Priyanka is plunged into her athletic role in Drona and learning Latin dancing. “Better hone my skills than do bad films,” she asserts confidently.
“Once I finish Harry Baweja’s Love Story 2050 and Drona, I have nothing on the plate. I’d much rather work on myself. I want to do Latin contemporary—salsa, jazz, whatever. That excites me. Any new skill would be an asset for me as an actress.”
After leaning martial arts for Don, Priyanka is also learning a new form of self-defence for Drona. “This is a totally Indian skill for Drona. It’s a very Indian form of fighting. That’s all I can tell you on record. I’ve a professional trainer who has come down from a certain part of the country.”
After Krissh, both Drona and Love Story 2050 is FX-motivated. “I don’t know what it is with my special effects. I guess F-X has become an integral part of cinema. In Hollywood even the sweetest of love stories have them.
That’s happening in our cinema too. Drona is fantasy and will have loads of F-X. In Don there was so much F-X we couldn’t even see it. In Love Story 2060 we’re creating the future.”
Is she thinking of creating the future with her co-star Harman Baweja? “That’s the craziest thing I’ve heard. Harman is a buddy. I came into the picture late. But now it’s my film. I’m fully into it.
In the past there were so many films that I left and were done by other actresses. Likewise this film passed on to me (from Kareena). Now it’s mine.”

John is hoping to do a SRK

John says there are two things in life that he is very confident about.
“One is biking and the other football, or shall we call it soccer, as people love to identify with American football these days. I’ve done my bikers’ movie Dhoom. Enough has been said and seen about my love for bikes.
We now have enough young guys zooming around on bikes. But what about football? I want it to acquire the same popularity and legitimacy as bikes….and cricket.”
John feels the only game in this country that has a life outside the celeb-field is cricket. “Shah Rukh Khan was the best thing to happen to hockey (after Chak De India). Otherwise I feel every game including football needs a star to promote it.
And I’m ready to do everything within my means to make sure the game gets the same fame as cricket. Unfortunately the bureaucracy and the politics of this country is not conducive to a healthy atmosphere for any kind of discussion on the health of the nation.”
John has met the Information & Broadcasting Minister and president of All India Football Federation Priya Das Musnshi several times.
“Yes I’ve met him repeatedly about the future of football and how to push the game. He’s a lovely man and he feels for the game. We’d like to take the game to another level.
Along with the producers of my new football film UTV, we’ve designed a ground-contact programme. I can play the game, I’m not faking it. If I can be convincing in promoting biking why not football?
I want the ball to become an epicenter of glamour. When youngsters see the football in my hand they should think it’s cool.”
John feels cricket is too formidable a competition for football. “But if you want to know, I want to make football instead of cricket the new favourite game of the country.
I had hoped to get every smoker and his wife to watch No Smoking and to convert some into non-smokers. What’s the point of being a celebrity if you can’t influence minds in a positive way?”

Anne Hathaway

Anne Jacqueline Hathaway (born November 12, 1982) is an American actress and singer. Hathaway made her acting debut in the 1999 television series Get Real, but her first prominent role was in Disney's family comedy The Princess Diaries (2001), which established her career. She continued to appear in Disney films in the next three years, and she had the lead roles in Ella Enchanted and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (both 2004). Hathaway took more creative control over her career in 2005 and co-starred in the adult-themed Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, both requiring extensive nude scenes, as well as The Devil Wears Prada (2006), in which she starred opposite Meryl Streep. That film has become the highest-grossing film of her career. Becoming Jane, in which she stars as Jane Austen, was released in 2007.Hathaway's acting style has been compared to that of Judy Garland and Audrey Hepburn and she cites Hepburn as her favorite actress and Streep as her idol.People magazine named her one of 2001's breakthrough stars and in 2006 she was listed as one of the world's 50 Most Beautiful People.
BiographyEarly life & careerHathaway was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Gerald Hathaway, a lawyer, and Kate McCauley, an actress who inspired Hathaway to follow in her footsteps. She was named after the wife of playwright William Shakespeare. She has an older brother, Michael, and a younger brother, Thomas. Hathaway has mainly Irish and French ancestry, with more distant German and Native American roots. She was raised in the Catholic religion with what she considers "really strong values",and wanted to be a nun during her childhood. However, at fifteen, she decided not to become a nun after learning that her brother Michael was gay.Although she was raised as a Catholic, she felt that she could not be part of a religion that disapproved of her brother's sexual orientation.
Hathaway was raised in Millburn, New Jersey and graduated from Millburn High School where she was in many school plays. She spent several semesters studying at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York before transferring to New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She referred to her college enrollment as one of her best decisions because she enjoyed being with others who were trying to successfully "grow up". Hathaway was a member of the Barrow Group Theater Company's acting program and the first teenager admitted.[12] She is a trained stage actress and has stated that she prefers appearing on stage to film roles.Hathaway, a soprano, performed twice in 1998 with the All Eastern U.S. High School Honors Chorus at Carnegie Hall and has performed in plays at Seton Hall Prep in West Orange. Three days after performing at Carnegie Hall, she was cast in the short-lived 1999 television series Get Real.
2001-2004 career developmentHathaway made her film debut in the Garry Marshall-directed The Princess Diaries (2001). It was generally well received by critics.Hathaway starred in Get Real for one season, after which it was cancelled. Her first major film role was in The Other Side of Heaven (2001) opposite Christopher Gorham, but before production began in New Zealand, she auditioned for the lead role of Mia Thermopolis in the Garry Marshall-directed The Princess Diaries (2001). Marshall cast her immediately because she fell off her chair during the audition and his granddaughters thought that she had nice hair. Hathaway enjoyed filming The Princess Diaries and called it "really fun". It was released before Heaven because of its comedic-oriented plot, which critics said was effective because of her casting; a reviewer for BBC wrote that "Hathaway shines in the title role, and generates great chemistry".Across the world, the film was a commercial success[14] and a sequel was planned shortly after. The Other Side of Heaven was received weakly by critics, but it performed well for a Christian-themed film.
Hathaway continued appearing in comedy-oriented films and was known in the media as a children's role model. The following year, she starred in Nicholas Nickleby (2002) opposite Charlie Hunnam and Jamie Bell, which opened to positive reviews; the Northwest Herald referred to it as "an unbelievably fun film" and the Deseret News said that the cast was "Oscar-worthy". Despite critical acclaim, the film never entered wide release and failed at the North American box office (totaling less than US$4 million). Hathaway's next role was in Ella Enchanted (2004), the film adaptation of the award-winning[20] novel. It received indifferent reviews: the Chicago Tribune called it "shiny candy that tastes oddly familiar yet lacks sugary punch", and the New York Times felt that it was "clichéd and forgetful". However, the Dallas Morning News cited Tommy O'Haver's directing-style as "a Flintstones-like humor to the setting by melding modern with medieval culture".
In 2004 Hathaway was to star opposite Gerard Butler in The Phantom of the Opera, but she rejected the role because of her conflicting contract with Disney, which she was unhappy about.Disney began production on The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement in early 2004 and it was initially going to be filmed in Prague, but the location was changed to Los Angeles, where the "kingdom" of Genovia was built. The film opened to negative reviews and peaked higher at the box office than its predecessor, but ended with lower ticket sales.
2005-present career transitionHathaway's career moved in a more non-comedic direction with her role in Brokeback Mountain (2005).Hathaway began appearing in less comedic-oriented films after The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. She said that "anybody who was a role model for children needs a reprieve",[11] although she also noted that "it's lovely to think that my audience is growing up with me", a reference to her previous status as a children's actress.[16] She voiced a version of Little Red Riding Hood in Hoodwinked (2005), which received generally mixed reviews. That same year, Hathaway was cast in the mature-rated Havoc (2005), in which she played a spoiled socialite. In a surprise move, Hathaway was featured in several nude and sexual scenes throughout the film . She also appeared in the drama Brokeback Mountain (2005), opposite Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, appearing nude in the film as well. Havoc was not released in theatres in the United States (but was later released in other countries) because of its weak critical reception,[26] but Brokeback Mountain won rave reviews[27] for its depiction of a homosexual relationship in the 1960s, and received several Academy Award nominations, including "Best Picture".[28] Hathaway asserted that its content was more important than its award count.Promotional poster for the film Becoming Jane (2007).Hathaway's next film was The Devil Wears Prada (2006), in which she starred as an assistant to a powerful fashion magazine editor (Meryl Streep, whom she described as being "just divine").[7] Hathaway said that working on the film earned her respect in the fashion industry, but she claims that her personal style is something she "can't get right" and instead prefers "doing the things she loves".In an interview with Us Weekly, Hathway spoke about her weight loss for the film. “I basically stuck with fruit, vegetables and fish (to slim down for the movie). I wouldn’t recommend that. Emily Blunt and I would clutch at each other and cry because we were so hungry.”
Hathaway was initially cast in the 2007 comedy Knocked Up but dropped out before filming began. Writer/director Judd Apatow stated in a May 2007 issue of The New York Times Magazine that Hathaway dropped out "because she didn't want to allow us to use real footage of a woman giving birth to create the illusion that she is giving birth." Katherine Heigl replaced Hathaway. In an August 2007 interview with Marie Claire magazine, Hathaway commented on an unnamed film "I turned [it] down ... because it was going to show a vagina -- not mine, but somebody else's. And I didn't believe that it was actually necessary to the story."
Hathaway was then seen in Becoming Jane, in which she stars as English writer Jane Austen, released in mid 2007.She will also star as Agent 99[ in the screen adaptation of the TV series Get Smart, which will premiere in 2008.
Personal lifeHathaway enjoys interior design and reading as pastimes, and has stated that she is a non-denominational Christian. She has cited Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead (1943) as her favorite novel. Walter Bruce Willis (born March 19, 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany) is an American actor and singer. He came to fame in the late 1980s and has since retained a career as both a Hollywood leading man and a supporting actor, in particular for his role as John McClane in the Die Hard series. Willis was married to actress Demi Moore and they had three daughters before their divorce in 2000 after thirteen years of marriage. He has received multiple awards and honors throughout his career and has publicly shown his support for the United States armed forces. In various interviews, Willis has revealed his political opinions and interest in several conspiracy theories.Motion pictures that feature him as a leading actor or supporting co-star, have grossed a total of $2.55 to $3.04 billion at the North American box office, placing him as the sixth (as strictly lead) or the eighth highest-grossing movie star (counting supporting roles) of all time.
Early lifeWillis was born in Idar-Oberstein, Germany to David Willis, an American soldier, and a Kassel-born German mother, Marlene, who worked in a bank. Willis was the oldest of four children (his siblings are Florence, David, and Robert). After being discharged from the military in 1957, Willis's father took his family back to Penns Grove, New Jersey, where he worked as a welder and factory worker. His parents separated in 1971 while Willis was in his early teens. He was always an outgoing youngster, although he grew up with a stutter. Finding it easy to express himself on stage and losing his stutter in the process, Willis began performing on stage and his high school activities were marked by such things as the drama club and school council president.
Rather than go to college after graduation, Willis became a blue-collar worker, transporting work crews at the DuPont Chambers Works factory in Deepwater, New Jersey. He decided to quit after a colleague was killed on the job, and thereafter became a regular at several bars. Willis also discovered an innate knack for playing harmonica and joined an R&B band called Loose Goose.[6] After a stint as a private investigator (a role he plays in his 1991 film, The Last Boy Scout), Willis returned to his original passion of acting. He enrolled in the drama program at Montclair State University, where he was cast in the class production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Jack Prince as Big Daddy, William Applegate as the doctor, and Kevin J. Lynch as the Rev. Tooker. Willis left school during his junior year and moved to New York City.Willis returned to the bar scene, only this time for a part-time job and as a way to meet New York celebrities. He is rumored to have been 'discovered' while working at the Museum Cafe on New York's Upper West Side. After countless auditions, Willis made his theater debut in the off-Broadway production of Heaven and Earth. He gained more experience and exposure in Fool for Love, a stint on television's Miami Vice, and in a Levi's commercial.
CareerWillis left New York City and headed to California to audition for several television shows. He auditioned for the TV series Moonlighting (1985–89), while competing against 3,000 other actors for the position and was selected to play David Addison Jr. The starring role helped to establish him as a comedic actor, with the show lasting five seasons. During the height of the show's success, beverage maker Seagram hired Willis as the pitchman for their Golden Wine Cooler products. The memorable ad campaign paid the rising star between five and seven million dollars over two years. In spite of that, Willis decided not renew his contract with the company when he decided to stop drinking in 1988. One of his first major film roles was in the 1987 Blake Edwards film "Blind Date" alongside Kim Basinger and John Laroquette. However, it was his then-unexpected turn in the film Die Hard that catapulted him to fame. He performed most of his own stunts in the film,[9] and the film grossed $138,708,852 worldwide. Due to its box office success, the film would eventually tender three sequels, with the most recent entry, Live Free or Die Hard, released in June 2007. He also provided his voice for a talking baby in Look Who's Talking and its sequel.
In the late-1980s, Willis enjoyed moderate success as a recording artist, recording an album of pop-blues entitled The Return of Bruno, which included the hit single "Respect Yourself",[11] promoted by a Spinal Tap-like rockumentary parody featuring scenes of him performing at famous events including Woodstock. Follow-up recordings were not as successful, though Willis has returned to the recording studio several times. In the early 1990s, Willis' career suffered a moderate slump starring in flops such as The Bonfire of the Vanities, Striking Distance and a film he co-wrote entitled Hudson Hawk, among others. However, in 1994 he had a supporting role in Quentin Tarantino's acclaimed Pulp Fiction, which gave a new boost to his career. In 1996, he was the executive producer of the cartoon Bruno the Kid which featured a CGI representation of himself.[12] He went on to play the lead roles in Twelve Monkeys and The Fifth Element. However, by the end of the 1990s, his career had fallen into another slump with critically panned films like The Jackal, Mercury Rising, and Breakfast of Champions, saved only by the success of the Michael Bay-directed Armageddon which was the highest grossing film of 1998 worldwide.[13] The same year his voice and likeness were featured in the PlayStation video game Apocalypse. In 1999, Willis then went on to the starring role in M. Night Shyamalan's film, The Sixth Sense. The film was both a commercial and critical success and helped to increase interest in his acting career. He once had to appear in the hit sitcom Friends without pay, because he lost a bet to Matthew Perry, his co-star in The Whole Nine Yards and its sequel The Whole Ten Yards. He won a 2000 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on Friends (in which he played the father of Ross Geller's much-younger girlfriend). He was also nominated for a 2001 American Comedy Award (in the Funniest Male Guest Appearance in a TV Series category) for his work on Friends. Willis was originally cast as Terry Benedict in Ocean's Eleven (2001) but dropped out to work on recording an album. In Ocean's Twelve (2003), he makes a cameo appearance as himself. He recently appeared in the Planet Terror half of the double feature Grindhouse as the villain, a mutant soldier. This marks Willis' second collaboration with director Robert Rodriguez, following Sin City.
Willis has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman several times throughout his career. He filled in for an ill David Letterman on his show February 26, 2003, when he was supposed to be a guest.[15] He interviewed Dan Rather in what he would later call "the most serious conversation of my entire life". On many of his appearances on the show, Willis stages elaborate jokes, such as wearing a day-glo orange suit in honor of the Central Park gates, having one side of his face made up with simulated buckshot wounds after the Harry Whittington shooting, or trying to break a record (parody of David Blaine) of staying underwater for only 20 seconds. On April 12, 2007, he appeared again, this time wearing a Sanjaya Malakar wig.[16] His most recent appearance was on June 25, 2007 when he appeared wearing a mini-turbine strapped to his head to accompany a joke about his own fictional documentary entitled An Unappealing Hunch (a wordplay of An Inconvenient Truth).Willis also appeared on Japanese Subaru Legacy television commercials,[18] optimizing the car for sale, with the backing music of Jade from Sweetbox, "Addicted" and "Hate Without Frontiers". Tying in with this, Subaru did a limited run of Legacys, badged "Subaru Legacy Touring Bruce", in honor of Willis.Willis has appeared in four movies with Samuel L. Jackson (National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1, Pulp Fiction, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and Unbreakable) and both actors were slated to work together in Black Water Transit before dropping out. Willis also worked alongside his eldest daughter, Rumer, in the 2005 film Hostage. In 2007, he recently finished the thriller Perfect Stranger, opposite Halle Berry, and marked his return to the role of John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard.
Upcoming filmsWith the third sequel to Die Hard, Live Free or Die Hard having been released in June 2007, Willis' future projects will include three other films that will debut between 2007 and 2010. The Last Full Measure is a drama film based on a true story about a Vietnam War veteran, and 2008's The Sophomore is a comedy where he will be a Catholic school principal and his real-life eldest daughter, Rumer, will star as a student investigating missing SAT scores.[19] The 2009 film will be the drama Morgan's Summit, where he will depict a late night radio host who promotes kindness, but changes his demeanor after a brutal crime causes him to seek revenge.Willis was slated to play U.S. Army general William R. Peers in director Oliver Stone's Pinkville, a drama about the investigation of the 1968 My Lai massacre.[20] However, due to the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike, the film was cancelled and Willis instead joined the film, The Surrogates, which is based on the comic books of the same name.[21]
Personal lifeAt the premiere for the film Stakeout, Willis met actress Demi Moore who was dating actor Emilio Estevez at the time. Willis married Moore on November 21, 1987 and had three daughters (Rumer Glenn Willis (born 1988), Scout LaRue Willis (1991) and Tallulah Belle Willis (1994)) before the couple divorced on October 18, 2000. The couple gave no public reason for their breakup. Willis reacting on his divorce stated "I felt I had failed as a father and a husband by not being able to make it work" and credited actor Will Smith for helping him get through the divorce. Willis and Moore currently share custody of the three daughters they had during their thirteen-year union. Since their breakup, rumors persisted that the couple planned to re-marry, but Moore has since married the younger actor Ashton Kutcher. Willis has maintained a close relationship with both Moore and Kutcher. Since his divorce he has dated models Maria Bravo Rosado and Emily Sandberg and also was engaged to Brooke Burns, until they broke up in 2004 after dating for ten months.Recently, he has been spotted dating Playboy Playmates Tamara Witmer and Karen McDougal on different occasions. Willis has expressed interest in getting married again and having more children.
Bruce Willis was, at one point, Lutheran (specifically Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod); but no longer practices, based on a statement he made in the July 1998 issue of George magazine:
“ Organized religions in general, in my opinion, are dying forms", he says. "They were all very important when we didn't know why the sun moved, why weather changed, why hurricanes occurred, or volcanoes happened", he continues. "Modern religion is the end trail of modern mythology. But there are people who interpret the Bible literally. Literally!" he says incredulously. "I choose not to believe that's the way. And that's what makes America cool, you know?[23] ”
In early 2006, Willis, who usually lives in Los Angeles, moved into an apartment located in the Trump Tower in New York City.[24] Willis also has a home in Malibu, California, a ranch in Montana, a beach home on Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos, and multiple properties in Sun Valley, Idaho.Willis owns his own motion picture production company called Cheyenne Enterprises which he started with his business parter Arnold Rifkin in 2000.[26] He also owns several small businesses in Hailey, Idaho including The Mint Bar and The Liberty Theater and is a co-founder of Planet Hollywood along with actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.
Willis, an avid New Jersey Nets fan, made controversial comments on April 29, 2007 during a live broadcast of a Nets home playoff game vs. the Toronto Raptors on TSN by saying a catch phrase from his Die Hard films, "Yipee-ki-yay motherfucker", at the end of the interview. Reacting to the backlash, he later blamed his actions on jet lag, stating: "Sometimes I overestimate my ability to function under duress with less than enough sleep".On May 5, 2007, someone using the screen name "Walter_B" started posting detailed responses onto Ain't it Cool News, where people were discussing the fact that Live Free or Die Hard received a PG-13 rating, instead of an R rating like the earlier three Die hard films.[31] The responses included detailed information on Live Free or Die Hard, which was yet to be released; the theme of the Die Hard film series, direct criticisms of other movie crews and casts, and many movie trivia answers. "Walter_B" was Bruce Willis himself, directly posting his opinions. Many people were skeptical that "Walter_B" was indeed Willis, but on May 9, Willis revealed his identity by using video chat via iChat on Apple Mac OS X.[32]
Political viewsWillis was one of few Hollywood celebrities to publicly support the Iraq War in 2003, but in 2007 declared that he was more supportive of the troops instead of the war itself.[33] He has endorsed every Republican presidential candidate except Bob Dole in 1996, because Dole had criticized Demi Moore for her role in the movie Striptease.[34] Willis was an invited speaker at the 2000 Republican National Convention.[35] Willis has attempted to play down his status as one of Hollywood's most outspoken Republicans, although he continues to vocally support gun ownership and other conservative policies. Generally he considers himself to be moderate (For example he has criticized the religious right and its influence on the Republican party.) In February 2006, Willis appeared in Manhattan to talk about his new movie 16 Blocks with reporters. One reporter attempted to ask Willis about his opinion on current events but was interrupted by Willis in mid-sentence:
“ I'm sick of answering this fucking question. I'm a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government, I want less government intrusion. I want them to stop shitting on my money and your money and tax dollars that we give 50 percent of... every year. I want them to be fiscally responsible and I want these goddamn lobbyists out of Washington. Do that and I'll say I'm a Republican... I hate the government, OK? I'm apolitical. Write that down. I'm not a Republican. ” In several June 2007 interviews, he declared that he still maintains some Republican ideologies but is currently an independent. In 2006, he proposed that the United States should invade Colombia in order to end the drug trafficking.[ In several interviews with USA Weekend magazine, Willis has revealed that he supports large salaries for teachers, and reveals that he is disappointed in the United States' foster care and treatment of Native Americans.Willis also stated that he is a big supporter of gun rights:"Everyone has a right to bear arms. If you take guns away from legal gun owners, then the only people who have guns are the bad guys." Even a pacifist, he insists, would get violent if someone were trying to kill him. "You would fight for your life."
Military interestsWillis meeting members of the U.S. Navy on July 25, 2002Throughout his film career, Willis has depicted several military characters in films such as The Siege, Hart's War, Tears of the Sun, and Grindhouse. Growing up in a military family, Willis has been publicly supportive of troops of the United States armed forces. In 2002, Willis's youngest daughter, Tallulah, suggested that Willis purchase Girl Scout cookies to send to troops. Willis purchased 12,000 boxes of cookies, and they were distributed to sailors aboard USS John F. Kennedy and other troops stationed throughout the Middle East at the time.[40] In 2003, Willis visited Iraq as part of the USO tour, singing to the troops with his band, The Accelerators.[41] Some reports from military officials suggest that Willis tried to enlist in the military to help fight the second Iraq war, but he was turned away because of his age.[42][43] It was believed he offered $1 million to any civilian who turns in terrorist leaders Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, or (now the late) Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, however, in the June 2007 issue of Vanity Fair, he clarified that the statement was made hypothetically and not meant to be taken literally. Willis has also bashed the media for its coverage of the war, complaining that the press were more likely to focus on the negative aspects of the war:
“ I went to Iraq because what I saw when I was over there was soldiers — young kids for the most part — helping people in Iraq; helping getting the power turned back on, helping get hospitals open, helping get the water turned back on and you don't hear any of that on the news. You hear, 'X number of people were killed today,' which I think does a huge disservice. It's like spitting on these young men and women who are over there fighting to help this country.” Willis has said that he wants to "make a pro-war film in which American soldiers will be depicted as brave fighters for freedom and democracy." The film will follow members of Deuce Four, the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry, who spent considerable time in Mosul and were decorated heavily for it. The film is to be based on the writings of blogger Michael Yon, a former United States Army Special Forces Green Beret who was embedded with Deuce Four and sent regular dispatches about their heroics. Willis described the plot of the film as "these guys who do what they are asked for very little money to defend and fight for what they consider to be freedom."[46]
Conspiracy theoriesIn an interview for the June 2007 issue of Vanity Fair, Bruce Willis reveals his skepticism that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination of JFK, and suggests that some of the same criminals who killed Kennedy are still in power today.
Cultural referencesIn 1996, Roger Director, a writer and producer from Moonlighting wrote a roman à clef on Bruce Willis titled A Place to Fall.[48] Cybill Shepherd wrote in her 2000 autobiography, Cybill Disobedience that Willis expressed his anger toward Roger Director, because the character was written as a "neurotic, petulant actor."

I’m expert on HIV: Sushmita

Trust Sushmita to do the unexpected. The actress has taken the upkeep of her deceased Man-Friday ’s wife and two sons on her self.
Reluctant to talk about her philanthropic side Sushmita finally reveals, ” The one good thing that came out of this whole experience was my rapport with my former staffer Ashutosh (name changed) and his wife Namrata (name changed) and their two sons.
I’m full of such admiration for this woman of 29. She’s younger and far less urbane than me. But her wisdom and her acumen in the face of such imminent tragedy just makes feel so small.”
Blessedly both the staffer’s children have tested negative. “But the lady is in an advanced stage of HIV Positive. I’m getting her the best treatment possible. Perhaps with treatment she’ll live 5-7 years. But her spirit is unbroken.”
When you express admiration for her courageous helping-hand towards an indomitably courageous woman who would’ve probably died without proper health care, Sushmita rejoins, “On the contrary she’s helping my conscience to get lighter, I feel guilty that I knew nothing about Ashutosh’s illness. He was too scared to tell me. Namrata was warned no one should know about his condition, least of all me. He thought I’d be very upset by the nature of his illness. He came to meet me shortly before he died. He looked very ill. I thought he had jaundice. He asked me for financial help. I knew there was something seriously wrong. I tried to get in touch with his wife. But couldn’t. The next thing I knew Ashutosh was in a coma.”
Sushmita did get to speak to her trusted dying staffer once before he died. “He got out of his coma long enough to speak to me once on the cell-phone. He heard me, and he cried. 24 Hours afterwards he died. The next day I flew in from Goa to do his last rites.”
The wife and the children had to be tested for AIDS. It was one of the most horrific periods of Sushmita’s life. “I not only had to deal with the death of a staffer I loved immensely, I also had to break the news of his wife’s illness to her at the cremation itself. This entire harrowing incident was so unexpected.”
Today the dead man’s ill wife and healthy children are under Sushmita’s care. “It’s hard to keep her free from infections. I’m doing my best to keep her intact. Today I’m an expert on HIV positive.”
On brighter note, “A look at my daughter’s delight as she watches Pocahontas and I regain my spirit. God bless Walt Disney

It’s my hottest and sexiest avatar

India’s most successful filmmaking concern is now picking out the top-ranking stars from the Bollywood heiarachy and signing them on for lucrative 1-2 film deals.
Yashraj’s latest acquisition is Kareena Kapoor, the spunky seductress who was unofficially ostracized from the banner after she turned down the offer to do Kal Ho Na Ho with Yashraj’s blue-eyed boy Shah Rukh Khan.
Of late Kareena has been on a massive fence-mending spree. She not only agreed to do a minuscule guest appearance with Shah Rukh in Don she’s also been invited into SRK’s favourite banner.
Kareena has just completed shooting for Yashraj Films new project Tashan.
Revealing details Kareena says, “It’s a love triangle featuring Kareena with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan to be directed by Victor who wrote Dhoom and Dhoom 2. I’ve never played a character like this before. It’s my hottest and sexiest avatar to date.”
What made Yashraj approach the banner’s unapproachable? Smiles the source, ” Yashraj wants to sign all the big stars. With Kareena there was never any real problem. In fact at the very beginning of her career Yash Chopra was supposed to direct her in a heroine-oriented film.
That project fell through. Then she worked with them win Mujhse Dosti Karoge where she was originally supposed to play a tomboy. The role grew into an ultra-glamorous one.
Again now after many years Kareena has been approached by Aditya Chopra because there’s a paucity of glamorous actresses. Sure they’ve Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Aishwarya Rai. But how many films can these do, considering Yashraj plans to produce 5-6 top-notch films every year?”
Interestingly two years ago Aishwarya too was similarly isolated from the Yashraj banner. She was almost finalized for Veer-Zara and then given the go-by. It was the item song Kajra re in Bunty Aur Babli that brought her back into the Yashraj camp.
Says the source, “Kareena luckily had the dates in the first half of 2007 because Mani Rathnam’s Lajjo with Aamir Khan has been shifted to later during the year.”

Kareena Aunty’s Kambakth Ishq

It’s a fresh start from ‘Kareena Aunty’. That’s what Saif’s kids like to call Bebo these days. According to sources Kareena is very warm to both Sara and Ibrahim and does meet them often at Saif’s home.
Professionally too, the life never looked so rosy for Kareena. Fresh from the success of her latest film ”Jab We Met”, has been signed opposite Akshay Kumar in Sajid Nadiadwala’s next ”Kambakth Ishq”. The film is being directed by Sabir Khan.
Kareena tells, ”This is the first film I have signed post ‘Jab We Met’. It’s a very unusual love story and I loved the script, and besides I always wanted to act in Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner.
I am also looking forward to work with Akshay again after Yashraj’s ‘Tashan’. This will be our fifth film together and we share an excellent chemistry on screen.”
Sajid Nadiadwala whose last film ”Hey Babyy” was a huge draw at the box office said, ”My director Sabir and I both saw ‘JAB WE MET’ together and absolutely loved it.
Kareena’s transition from an extroverted character and a matured character was fantastic. It was a difficult role, and she was exemplary.” Sajid Adds ”Kambakth Ishq is a romantic drama with comedy in it.
Kareena is working for the first time with our banner and I am excited about it. She would suit the role perfectly. In fact we have had a hundred per cent golden jubilee hits record with her sister Karisma in ‘Jeet’ and ‘Judwa’.
Kareena’s dad Randhir has worked with our banner Nadiadwala Grandsons in many films including Haath Ki Safai and Rampur Ka Lakshman.
” Replying to questions, Sajid said, ”I don’t make action films but women-centric films where the girl’s role is pivotal to the story.
When I approached Kareena, She said that she didn’t want to hear the script, but just wanted to start shooting. That was her confidence on our banner.
”The shooting of ”Kambakth Ishq” is slated to begin from January 2008 with 9 actors from Hollywood, which will be shot in exotic locales of Los Angeles. ”It will be an international love story on a huge scale,” he added.

Kunal doesn’t talk about Girls

The intense Rang De Basanti actor who picks roles as carefully as a connosieur picking fruits at an orchard says cinema is only one of his predominant passions. Kunal Kapoor’s other interest writing poetry in his spare time.
Says Kunal, “I read and write a lot. I’m a struggling poet,” he jokes. “I’ve never shown my work to anyone else. I write it all for myself. And I’m not interested in showing it to anyone. “
Kunal’s inherent shyness propels the poet in him to come to the surface. “I find it very hard to talk about my relationships, whether it’s a girlfriend, sister or just a friend…I can’t bring myself to discuss them in public. That’s where the poet in me surfaces. Poetry helps me to exteriorize my thoughts.”
Kunal writes religiously every day and has reams and reams of thoughts expressed in poetry in Hindi and English..
“I’ve been writing every day for the last eight years. And keep going back to them to check my own life. It’s deeply cathartic. I don’t want to publish it right now. Strangely I’m not a loner. I like people. But I’m not much of a drinker and I hate parties. For me fun is being with people I trust and love…. and writing poetry.”
One person Kunal adores is Jaya Bachchan. “The minute I heard I heard Jaya is in Pradeep Biswas’ Laga Chunri Mein Daag I was on. Jaya-ji has been an idol from the time when I saw her in films like Guddi, Uphaar and Abhimaan.”
On the first day that Kunal met Jaya on the sets he was as nervous as a school-boy. “To me working with Jayaji was the biggest high. I never thought I’d one day be in the same film she’s doing.”

Hrithik, the Villain in Krissh 3?

Rakesh Roshan will be making a third part of super-hero series in Hrithik’s comment to this was…..
“All I can say at this point is, I wish I could play the villain in Krissh 3. I’m really excited about the villain’s role. So much so that I feel like giving up the the super-hero’s mantle to play the villain. His role is too TOO exciting. “
If he’s so excited about it he could play both the super-hero and the villain in Krissh 3?
“No no,” shrugs Hrithik. “That would be a triple role. Because I’ll already be playing the father, son and the villain.”
As for a clamour to have him back in the third part of the Dhoom series, Hrithik is all for it. “Well…. I think Dhoom is a fabulous franchise. It has to move on. Whether my character Aryan will be back or not remains to be seen.
Anything is possible in the movies. The challenge for every Dhoom and Krissh film is to be bigger and brighter than before. I think we’re climbing the ladder very fast. Soon we needn’t fear comparisons with our Hollywood counterparts. “
Hrithik is in a daring mood. “The point is to find new challenges, I only want to do make-or-break films. And Krissh 3 will fall into that category. “

Why Celina gave up makeup?

Celina Jaitley has always been a glamorous actor, in all the movies that she has done so far. So it comes as a surprise to know that she has accepted Rohit Shetty’s proposal to deglamourise herself for the sequel to Shree Asthavinayak’s laugh riot ‘Golmaal’.
“Rohit and Ashtavinayak have created magic with ‘Golmaal’ and I loved the film! No way was I going to give up the opportunity of being a part of the magical return of ‘Golmaal’!” says Celina, justifying her acceptance of the role.

I’m trying to regain my shape

Actress Mahima Chaudhary, now mother of a baby girl, is sparing no effort to get back in shape again and says she might write a book on motherhood.
The Bollywood actress, whose debut movie “Pardes” (1997) was an instant hit, managed to hoodwink the film media as she kept her pregnancy under wraps. Ariyana, her daughter, is five months old.
“I am trying my level best to get back in shape. However, I will do it steadily. I have hired a trainer. Since I am feeding the baby I cannot remain hungry and can work out for half an hour at the max,” Mahima told.
“If I succeed in my endeavour and attain a perfect figure, I will write a book on how to prepare for motherhood and how to cope after giving birth,” she said.
The actress was recently in town to support Godrej Ezee Raahat - Ek Abhiyaan, a winter wear donation drive.
Being a mother is a wonderful experience, said Mahima, adding that motherhood has given her many positive qualities.
“I was always very close to children and animals, as they are so dependant on you. Now after having my own child, the change that has come in me is that I have stopped thinking about myself - I keep thinking about my daughter all the time.
“Moreover, another wonderful thing is that I have got back my innocence. I think I had become too mature for some years. Now, I giggle for nothing along with her. Only children can bring back your innocence!” she said.
And when is the actress is planning to make her comeback?
“I never went away from Bollywood, I was doing endorsements and will do more films once my baby is a year old. To start with, I am looking for a romantic comedy. “
Commenting on venturing into the field of television, the actress said: “Television is very demanding and I don’t think at this point of time I am ready to take up such a project that demands so much time. “

Sushmita Sen Ko Dulha Mil Gaya

Main Hoon Na gave Bollywood a new pair to tap into. The unanimous opinion was …. Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita made a sizzling pair.
So what stopped the pair-starved industry from using more of the the hot couple?
Says Sushmita, “I’ve news for you. Shah Rukh and I are getting together again in Dulha Mil Gaya, though Shah Rukh only makes a guest appearance in the film. The actually reason I’m doing it is the director Mudassar Aziz.
He wrote the songs of Zindagi Rocks. I feel he has tremendous potential. When I heard the script I just fell for it. I guess I’m an emotional sucker too. I’ve become the first-film queen
. Look at the number of times I’ve worked with debutant directors. I’ve made a career out of working However, let me add Mudassar’s script is outstanding. “
Shah Rukh Khan makes a special appearance opposite Sushmita.
“That’s been organized completely by producer Viveck Vaswani,” adds Sushmita. “It has got nothing to do with me. It’s a romantic comedy. We start filming in Trinidad & Tobago in March 2007. “
She gets nostalgic. “I’m looking forward to visiting Trinidad. It was one of the first countries I visited as Miss Universe. I was so touched when Viveck Vaswani told me people still have my picture in their homes in Trinidad.
Filming there would be fun. And yes, Shah Rukh and I were really good in Main Hoon Na. Dulha Mil Gaya would probably be an encore. “
In addition, Sushmita has agreed to do another film with David Dhawan. “That’s been in the offing for a while. He has to finish his two current films. Then we’re on. David is someone I can never say no to. “
The David film will bring Sushmita together with Salman. “I love working with him. We’ve such a beautiful equation. He’s one hero who doesn’t let me feel my height. On the contrary whenever I kick off my high heels he asks me to put them on. It’s not hard to see why he’s so loved. “
Sushmita is very hopeful about 2007. “Actually the hopes were all for 2006. 2007 is the year of action. Next year my dream project Rani Laxmi Bai will be produced by me. And I’ll also play the lead. That’s what I want to do for sure. “

No one has balls to be like Salman

Priyanka was in freezing cold of Prague. “We were shooting at minus 12. I was there for only five days. But it was a picnic. The entire crew and some of their family were there. The director Goldie Behl was there with his wife. My mom came down. I just loved that family feel in the foreign land.”
She throws a surprise by revealing that she plays Abhishek’s bodyguard in Goldie Behl’s Drona. “Don’t be surprised. I’m a very strong girl. And yes I play Abhishek’s bodyguard in the film.”
This is an interesting reversal of gender roles in films.
Says Priyanka, “Conventional roles are changing in real life. And cinema needs to respect that. I learnt a Sikh form of martial arts, the Gatka to play Abhishek’s protector. It’s a very fascinating form of self- defence.”
Priyanka had four Sikh men training her in the ancient art of the Gatka. “I definitely feel this kind of preparation makes you a better actor.
It’s very interesting for me as an actor and for the audience to look at the character instead of the star. What’s the fun of doing films if you don’t cover new ground. I enjoy the whole process of making a film, specially when I’m working with friends.”
She’s very excited about her styling in Harry Baweja’s Love Story 2050. “I play two characters. The second role is very different from anything audiences have seen me doing so far. Styling is very important. After Don, in Drona I sport a totally different look. So yes, styling is very important for me.”
Priyanka played a mad mad Karan Johar fan in Salaam-e-Ishq. She’s a fan of his work in real life too. “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is one of my favourite films. So’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. And when I saw Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna I fell in love with all the performances.”
Priyanka had a great year. “I had two superb hits. Yeah Krissh and Don were the heroes’ films, And of course Abhishek plays Drona. Now I want to go forward this year. I’ve one more film with Salman coming up after Salaam-e-Ishq called God, Tussi Great Ho. I love Salman. No one has the balls to do what he does.”

How Rani aped Rakhi Sawant

Everyone who has seen Rani Mukherjee give a smashing performance as a saucy tart in Saawariya is commenting on the similarities between Rani’s and Rakhi Sawant’s speech patterns and body language.
The decision to incorporate elements of Rakhi’s personality into the character was taken on the day Rakhi, who’s a huge fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s work was invited on the sets of Saawariya when Rani was shooting.
“That’s when Sanjay Leela Bhansali heard Rakhi speak and decided to incorporate her cute and wonky way of speaking the English language into Rani’s character,” says a source very close to the film.
In fact Rakhi who was saw the ‘tribute’ at the film’s premiere on Wednesday caught on immediately was quite tickled by the way Rani had adopted Rakhi’s speech patterns.
Says Rakhi, “I wasn’t aware of the similarities. I’m a big Sanjay Leeela Bhansali fan and I adore Rani. Yes, he had invited me to the sets. He made me feel very special. When I watched him shoot with Rani I became an even bigger fan of Sanjayji. Even a walk-on part in his film is invaluable.”

Ash’s success bothers Abhi?

He is the son of one of the biggest stars of the Indian film Industry and the husband of an actress who has in recent years become an ”apple in Hollywood’s pie”.
Being among such ”celebrated company” as Superstar of the millennium Amitabh Bachchan and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, one would assume that for Abhishek Bachchan, having conquered hearts of cinegoers in India with his performances in films like ‘Guru’ and ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’, the next stop would be Hollywood only.
Not so for the Bollywood’s current heartthrob.
Even as wife Aishwarya Rai’s career is going great guns in Hollywood, the former Miss World having just been cast in the latest ‘Pink Panther’ movie, and reports appear of his father about to embark on a couple of Hollywood projects, Abhishek says he has no inclination to go to Hollywood unless, the role offered is really challenging.
”I don’t think Indian actors are very interested in going to Hollywood and playing a hot dog vendor on the side. Over here, we enjoy the love of our audience, we get very challenging roles to do, unless someone can better that, we won’t think of doing a film anywhere else,’’said the junior Bachchan in an interview to a private TV channel.
Speaking in an interview on CNN International, for its programme ‘CNN Talk Asia’, Abhishek, however, did not altogether rule out the possibility of doing a Hollywood film.
”I’m sure, tomorrow, if there was an inquiry about a film which excited me creatively, why not? I’d love to. I think it’s good to broaden one’s horizons. I look upon it as a learning experience.
But as of now, I’ve never been offered anything which excited me or something that I felt would be challenging enough for me to do,” Abhishek said on the programme.
On wife Aishwarya and father Amitabh Bachchan’s forays in Hollywood, he said,” I think Dad and Aishwarya, don’t look upon it as going to the West. They look upon it as doing another film, it just happens to be in another language.”
Asked whether the presence of so many brilliant actors in the family put an additional burden on him, he said, ”Unfortunately a lot of people try and portray who I am, the kind of family I come from and try and make it out to be a huge burden, it’s really not.
It’s anything but that. People talk about expectations, people talk about your own personal standards that you have to set. I look upon it more positively, where I feel they’re great goals to try and achieve.”
He added, ”I believe I have two of the most gifted actors on earth at home. I’ve recently got married to another one of my favorite actors, so, I think they’re all great in their fields and they’re great standards for me.
And I’ve always looked upon it positively because I feel they’re good human beings who have gone about their profession in the correct way and I’d like to emulate that. I’ve never looked upon it as a burden.”
Abhishek, who appears with Aishwarya in the forthcoming ‘Sarkar Raj’, said the experience of working together on the same set was thrilling.
”I love it. Both of us being actors know that there’s going to be times ahead where we’re not going to see each other for months.
So we enjoyed every moment of the shoot. And the great thing is that for the past few year we’ve been working together,”he said.
Having attained stardom after a long and arduous struggle which saw him acting in nearly a dozen flops in a row in the beginning of his career before ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ brought about a turnaround.
”At the end of the day it’s got to do with luck. That’s one thing you learn very quickly in the Indian film industry. You can work really hard on your physique, on your craft and on the films you do.
You can choose the best of directors, the best of productions, get the best technicians, you can put your entire body and soul into a film, but at the end of the day, it all depends on the audience,”he said.

Bips is Sexiest Asian Woman

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has been named the sexiest Asian woman by the British newspaper Eastern Eye.
On claiming the top spot for the second time after 2005, the Indian actress said: “I’m glad I got the crown back and will try and hold on to it this time.
“I think sexiness goes beyond looks and is a total package, from your personality to the way you carry yourself in your everyday life. I’m really grateful to all who voted for me because I work very hard,” added the actress, who is looking forward to her next release “Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal”.
Commenting on Bipasha’s international appeal, Hamant Verma, editor of Eastern Eye and the founder of its Sexiest Asian Women in the World List, said: “Bipasha is a living embodiment of sexual attractiveness. Her acting ability, beauty and charm are capable of arousing great interest in her from the world’s media.”
Last year’s winner, former Miss World and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, bagged the third position this year while actress Madhuri Dixit was voted the runner-up.
The other Bollywood actresses who made it to the top 10 positions are Aishwarya Rai, voted as the fourth sexiest Asian woman and Shilpa Shetty, who came in sixth followed by Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta.
The public voted for those they thought were the sexiest Asian women from a list of 100 names published in the newspaper and on its website. The chairman of the judges’ panel was Eastern Eye’s show business editor Asjad Nazir.

Ayesha Takia won’t Kiss!!!

To kiss or not to kiss for Nagesh Kukunoor’s Ashaayen is no longer the question.
For Ayesha Takia the right not to kiss is unquestionable. But has she said no to Kukunoor’s kiss because of boyfriend Farhan Azmi?”
“First of all, I never said no to the film. I said no to the scene. I can’t say no to Nagesh. After Dor he’s a friend and a director I respect immensely. I still think we can work our way around the scene.
But Nagesh is adamant. So I guess…You know Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking had a kissing and love-making scene. Anurag altered the script for my sake.”
Trailing off she comes back with… “But Farhan or no member of my family has anything to do with my decision. My values make me uncomfortable with such a scene. If I go to a premiere with my family, and that includes Farhan, and see myself kissing on screen I’d be very uncomfortable.”
Ayesha is one of the rare actresses who has no qualms about the presence of a boyfriend in her life. “True love is so hard to find. And I’ve found it. These days relationships are so fickle I feel our generation has too many choices.
If we don’t change our father mother or sibling why must we change the person whom we want to spend our life with? The prospect of the soul-mate being replaceable is so wrong. Once you know you can change priorities in your life you stop investing your complete self into the relationship.”
Is marriage on the cards? “Not right away. But I see no harm in having a career and a home side by side. When I do get married I’ll know if I can manage both. Right now God is kind enough to give me a bright career and I see no room for marriage.
However let me add, I’m not one of those actresses who’ll marry when her career comes to a dead-end. That’s like saying, ‘I’ve no other choice so I might as well get married.’ That would be an insult to the person I love.”
Farhan is okay with the idea of an actress as a wife. “He’s very proud of work. He’s not much of a movie buff. But he watches my films. I don’t let him watch my silly films—and please don’t mention names, ha ha. But Farhan saw Dor. And he loved me in it.”
Why did she do the silly films like Shaadi Se Pehle and Shaadi No 1? “I don’t regret doing any of my films. I feel every film I’ve done has helped me reach where I’m today.”
At 21 Ayesha feels all her dreams are coming true. “I may not be able to walk around the roads of Mumbai and eat pani-puri on the roads. And very honestly I’ve no friends…No friends at all in the industry or outside it.
My family and Farhan—and he’s part of my family– are all the friends that I have time for…Yes, it’s a good life…Though I don’t think I’ve been given enough chances to prove myself. I think my career has just taken off after Dor.”

Sonam paired with Abhishek

Even as the Rang De Basanti director prepares to start his next project the autobiogrpahical Delhi 6 he also has plans for what could possibly be the most ambitious and formidable casting coup of the decade.
Rakeysh is planning to cast Abhishek Bachchan with Sonam Kapoor, the debutante of Saawariya.
Reports have it that Sonam and her dad Anil Kapoor sat for a script-hearing session and they liked the subject. Anil apparently gave his go-ahead to Sonam for the film.
However, she is yet to sign on the dotted line.
This augurs very well for Sonam’s acting career. She has already worked with one of the best Bollywood directors in her first film. Now, she is set to be directed by the man who gave us Rang De Basanti.

Sorry Manoj Uncle: Shah Rukh

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and director Farah Khan Friday said “sorry” to Manoj Kumar for what he perceived as his humiliation in a scene in the recently-released “Om Shanti Om”. But the legendary actor is unmoved, trade sources said.
Manoj Kumar has not accepted the apology yet. “The two (Shah Rukh and Farah) will be required to do a lot more to convince him to forgive and forget,” the trade sources told Friday night.
The thespian had taken offence to a ’70s scene in the film which shows a young Manoj Kumar (played by a double) being beaten by police constables outside a theatre when he lands there for a premiere. The thespian had reportedly wanted to sue the filmmaker and Shah Rukh Khan for defamation and a deliberate attempt to humiliate him.
“I and Farah have apologised to Manoj-ji over phone and we will go to meet him personally as well,” Shah Rukh Khan said at a specially convened press conference here.
“He (Manoj Kumar) was very sweet and said there was no need to apologise, ‘you are like my children’. We even offered to remove the scene from the film if it hurt him so much, but he said there was no need at all for that,” said Farah.
Shah Rukh also said that the scene was not intended to hurt anyone.
“Any part of the film was not meant to demean anyone. But if he (Manoj) came on television and was so disturbed about it, we extend a heartfelt apology to him,” he added.
Manoj had earlier stated that a junior artiste had told him that he had played his double in the film. According to Manoj, he had met Farah about two months back and told her that if she wanted he would gladly appear in her film.
But she had said she only wanted a double to portray him in a ’70s scene for a film premiere. Apparently, the actor did not like seeing his double in the film.
However, Farah said she had informed the actor about using a double in the film.
“I had met him a few months back and told him that we were using his double in the film.”
Commenting on what could have averted the controversy, Shah Rukh said: “Probably this wouldn’t have happened if we would have invited him (Manoj Kumar)…”

Rani duped of Rs 33 lakhs!!!

Rani has been allegedly duped of Rs 33 lakh in a fake land deal in a village near temple town of Shirdi in Maharashtra.
Wanting to build a house in Shirdi near Kopargaon in Ahmednagar district, Rani purchased a 11,000 square feet land in 2005 from one Sampat More. But she was unaware of the fact that it was non-transferable farmland and hence could not be sold.
The district collector of Ahmednagar, Umakant Dangat told: “Rani Mukerji’s father had come here a few days ago to have the land registered in their names but the land was already allotted for farming purposes.”
The district’s sub divisional officer has sent an enquiry notice to Rani with respect to the land, which she had allegedly purchased from an agent named Sampat More in village Nimba Korchali, about 400 km from Mumbai.
Dangat said the size of the land is 11 guntas (one fourth of an acre). However, the cost of the land hasn’t been determined yet.
“They should have enquired before getting into a transaction,” said Dangat.
The sub divisional officer will scrutinise the records of the parties involved and pass an order thereafter.
