Actor-producer Sunil Shetty is upset with good friend Sanjay Gupta for calling his film Mission Istanbul “trash” in a media report. The Sanjay Gupta-Apoorva Lakhia fight has taken a new turn. Just a few days back, Gupta had severely criticized Apoorva Lakhia for his lack of professionalism during the making of Shootout At Lokhandwala and called Lakhia’s next movie Mission Istanbul “trash”.These comments have not gone well with Sunil Shetty whose company Popcorn Entertainment is co-producing ‘Mission Istanbul’.It is common knowledge that Shetty and Gupta have been good friends ever since they worked together in Kaante . Shetty claims to have stood by Gupta in the times of crisis. But Gupta’s remarks on ‘Mission Istanbul’ have hurt Shetty.“I am upset and annoyed that Gupta called my film ‘trash’ when he has no idea what the film is about. If it (the movie) was really so bad as Gupta calls it why would stars like Abhishek, Vivek and Zayed choose to be part of it. I have always considered Gupta a friend, but I am hurt by his comments about my film. I will meet him soon to talk about it,” says Sunil Shetty. Not just Shetty, even producer Bunty Walia is upset that Gupta called his movie Ek Ajnabee (directed by Lakhia) a “disaster”. Walia says it is very uncalled-for behaviour by Gupta to drag his (Walia’s) movie into his (Gupta’s) spat with Lakhia. Now that Shetty and Gupta are at loggerheads, sources say their common friend Sanjay Dutt may play the pacifier and get the issues sorted out between them.
